We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Hazmat Technician to join our team. The Hazmat Technician will play a crucial role in responding to hazardous material incidents, conducting cleanup operations, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hazardous materials handling, emergency response protocols, and environmental safety procedures.

 

Responsibilities:

1. Respond promptly to hazardous material incidents, including spills, leaks, and releases, in accordance with established protocols and safety procedures.

2. Safely contain and mitigate hazardous material spills to minimize environmental impact and protect public health and safety.

3. Conduct thorough assessments of hazardous material incidents, including identifying the type and quantity of materials involved, assessing potential risks, and developing appropriate response plans.

4. Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) and specialized equipment to safely handle, contain, and clean up hazardous materials.

5. Coordinate with other team members, emergency responders, and regulatory agencies to ensure effective communication and collaboration during response operations.

6. Perform decontamination procedures for personnel, equipment, and affected areas following hazardous material incidents.

7. Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of hazmat response equipment to ensure readiness and functionality.

8. Assist in the development and implementation of training programs for hazmat response team members and other personnel.

9. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to hazardous material incidents, response activities, and equipment maintenance.

Requirements:

1. High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification in hazardous materials management, emergency response, or environmental safety preferred. Must have HAZWOPPER 40 or 24 HOUR HAZMAT TECHNICIAN

2. Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in hazardous materials handling, spill response, or related field.

3. Knowledge of hazardous materials regulations, including familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.

4. Ability to work in fast-paced, high-stress environments and adapt quickly to changing circumstances.

5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

6. Proficiency in using personal protective equipment (PPE) and specialized hazmat response equipment.

7. Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

8. Willingness to undergo background checks, drug screenings, and medical evaluations as required.

9. Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, work in confined spaces, and withstand exposure to adverse weather conditions.

 

Job Type: Full-time

 

Salary: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour
